“The Great Lakes Duo delivers a tight and impressive program of varied repertoire for organ and trumpet.  Each bringing their individual virtuosity to the table, Brian and Rhonda’s musical collaboration appears effortless, yet with each player’s voice remaining beautifully distinct.  Particularly notable are Rhonda’s imaginative organ registrations and Brian’s seemingly infatigable chops, carrying him easily through a 75-minute program.  Multiple commissioned pieces form the centerpiece of their repertoire, including a number of new arrangements of familiar hymns that will appeal to audiences.  Brian and Rhonda’s musicality is only enhanced by their personal touch in providing verbal introductions on the pieces they play, confirming a spiritual depth and joy in the music they perform.  I highly recommend the Great Lakes Duo!”

“The Great Lakes Duo provided an excellent, interesting and engaging program to kick off our ’22-’23 recital series at Second Reformed Church in Zeeland. Showcasing the unique combination of the organ and trumpet, Rhonda and Brian offered the audience an opportunity to hear modern compositions alongside familiar and beloved hymn arrangements, enlivened by the acoustic space and chemistry of the musicians. Their commitment to educating attendees on the instruments, their partnership, and chosen repertoire opened the door for active listening and comfortability throughout the program. We were delighted to host the Great Lakes Duo and look forward to more collaborations in the future.”

“Stephenson’s Fanfare for an Angel … begins with the crisp, rich, and full tone of Reichenbach cascading above the sensitive and energetic playing by Edgington.  The ensemble immediately seizes the attention of the listener by performing with great team spirit…. The first movement [of Jenkins’ BLM] opens with amazing virtuosic playing by Reichenbach… Edgington’s performance is sublime.  She creates a strong depiction of a jazz rhythm section that adds a rich and interesting texture. The second movement, unlike any other piece on the album, begins with beautiful, lush, sustained chords. Reichenbach enters with an incredibly tasteful Harmon-mute tone that is reminiscent of the jazz giant Miles Davis. Reichenbach and Edgington accurately depict a mood that is soulful and tremendously heartfelt. The final movement is an exciting work, filled with lilt, joy, and optimism. The interplay between the trumpet and organ is seemingly both playful and serious…. Music for Trumpet and Organ in the 21st Century is an amazing album and should be in the library of every musician.”
