Great Lakes Duo

We are excited to invite trumpet players and organists to join a special consortium to commission a new work for trumpet and organ from composer Catherine McMichael. Catherine is an experienced composer known for her diverse catalog of concert and sacred works. Recently, her Totem Voices for trumpet and piano was selected for the International Trumpet Guild Solo Performance Competition. She has also composed several works that include organ as well as for solo organ. The new, single-movement work will be suitable for a variety of concert and sacred occasions. It is not yet titled, but will capture the characters of adventure and awe. Making music is always an adventure and the anticipation of a new piece will be a unique experience. And what better medium than trumpet and organ to inspire a sense of awe!

Complete details:

• Trumpet and organ
• 4-6 minutes, single movement work
• Concert work also suitable for use in worship settings, such as a prelude, offertory, or postlude
• Intermediate to advanced difficulty (suited for the professional musician, but playable by advanced amateur/college level musicians)
• Minimum 30/maximum 45 participants
• Deadline to join: September 1, 2023 or when the consortium has reached the maximum number of participants
• Completion: October 2023
• Cost: $50 provides pdf of score and trumpet parts in Bb and C, name in score, and exclusive performance rights through December 31, 2024
